Greenfield teller admits stealing from credit union
GREENFIELD — A former bank teller has pleaded guilty to stealing more than $90,000 from a client’s accounts.
Meghan Porter, former head teller for the Greenfield branch of Freedom Credit Union, pleaded guilty in Franklin Superior Court Wednesday to two charges of larceny over $250 by a single scheme.
Her sentencing was put off until Sept. 24.
Porter was indicted last year on five charges of larceny over $250 by a single scheme.
From November 2011 through June 2012, Porter stole approximately $92,000 from two accounts belonging to a single credit union member. The thefts were discovered by the credit union and reported to Greenfield police in June of 2012.
The investigation found that 46 unauthorized withdrawals were made from the customer’s account, and Porter was seen on surveillance video as the teller conducting the transactions.
