Bulletin Board: Harrington, Goodnow win local club titles

Kevin Harrington carded a 225 to win the Crumpin-Fox Club Men’s Club Championship over the weekend in Bernardston.

Tim Rice and James Elliott tied for second at 236, while Cody Booska, Scott Serwa and Brandon Bete tied for fourth with a 239.

Doug Taylor and Mitch Akey tied for low net at 218. Craig Berry finished third with a 223, Mike Duclos came in fourth at 225, and Carl Hoynoski finished fifth at 228.

Edge Hill Club Championship

Lewis Goodnow defeated Mark Eaton 6 and 5 to win the 36-hole match play final in the Championship Division during the Edge Hill Golf Club’s Men’s Club Championship over the weekend in Ashfield.

Mike Sucharzewski won the A Flight (18-hole match) with an 8 and 7 victory over Tory Buck. In the B Flight, Mark Vandale defeated Brett Sallee 1-up. Sandy Hanks bested June Heideman 2 and 1 to win the Ladies Championship.

Mark K. Memorial

Bill Thompson, John Davis, Jayne Edwards and Rob Lapointe shot a 63 and won via a match of cards to finish first Monday night during the Mark K. Memorial Mixed Golf League at Oak Ridge Golf Course in Gill.

Jon Snow, Walter O’Neil, Fran O’Neil and Sue O’Neil came in second with a 63.

Touch football

Greenfield Men’s League

Vesit Keo hit Jimmy DuBois with the tying touchdown in the fourth quarter and then found Chris Hart with the game-winning extra point conversion to lift the Falcons to a 7-6 win over Rocketfusion.com in a Greenfield Men’s Touch Football League game at Green River Park.

Nick Crussana had an interception to lead the Falcons’ defense.

Nick Aldrich hit Snoop Jackson with the lone touchdown in the loss, and Matt Perry had two interceptions on defense.

• In other action, Jesse Phelps threw four touchdown passes and one extra point conversion to lead Sirum’s Auto Body to a 34-0 win over Hamp Militia.

Adam Wroblewski caught one of the touchdowns from Phelps and also returned an interception for a touchdown in the win. Evan Jobst, Zach Butynski and Chuck St. Hilaire also caught touchdowns in the win.

Eric Pardee had an interception in the loss.

• Meanwhile, Ryan Keilty’s three touchdown passes paced Platform Bar Titans to a 18-6 win over Travel Kuz.

Seth Mann, Billy Cruz and Eric Hernandez were each on the receiving end of one touchdown in the win. Cruz and Steve Duffy had interceptions to pace the defense.

John Hall hooked up with Kendall Schneider for the lone touchdown in the loss.

• Finally, Tyler Bates hit Jake Field and Austin Watroba with one touchdown pass apiece to help Between the Uprights to a 12-0 win over Taylor’s Stallions in a battle of the bars.

Chris Desautels and Jake Lococo each had interceptions in the loss.

Youth football

Greenfield Seniors romp

Kyle Dodge rushed for 220 yards and four touchdowns as Greenfield opened the 2014 Suburban League football season with a 48-24 win over Ware in a Senior Division game at Ware High School on Sunday.

Dodge also scored on a pair of 2-point conversions. Chris Urgiel added 81 yards rushing, one touchdown and one 2-point conversion. Urgiel also returned a punt 50 yards for a score. Justin Dobias added a 9-yard touchdown run in the win.

Evan Momaney led the Greenfield defense with eight tackles and two sacks. Jake Wallace finished with six tackles, and Sam Trudeau had three tackles, one sack and a fumble recovery.


DRIVE fall leagues

DRIVE Hoops is still accepting registrations for a number of fall basketball leagues.

The Men’s League begins on Sept. 24, while the boys’ varsity, girls’ varsity, boys’ junior varsity, boys’ middle school, girls’ middle school and boys’ grades 5 and 6 leagues all begin on Sept. 28 and run on Sundays only.

Drive Hoops also has player development programs and Skills and Drills Programs.
