Graves wins Edge Hill Senior championship
Mark Graves shot a 36-hole total of 159 to win low gross in the Men’s Division of the Edge Hill Golf Course’s Senior Club Championship over the weekend in Ashfield.
Ronnie Parker won low net with a 136.
June Heideman won low gross in the Ladies Division with a 36-hole total of 189. Sandy Hanks won low net with a 159.
CFC Fox Shootout
Tom Bergeron and Carl Hoynoski shot a 182 to win low gross in the Member/Member Fox Shootout at Crumpin-Fox Club in Bernardston over the weekend.
Mace Foehl and Doug Taylor came in second with a 191. Bill Young and Dick Barnes won low net with a 151, while Jordan Haskell and Terry Boyce came in second with a 163.
Day 1 consisted of nine holes of scramble and nine holes of scotch, and Day 2 consisted of nine holes of best ball and nine holes of aggregate score.
Country Club Par 3
Dave McDonald and Jim Worden shot a 62 to tie atop the Valhalla Flight during the Par 3 Championship at the Country Club of Greenfield on Sunday.
Bill Canon came in second in the flight, while Gordon Parker and Joe Wisneski tied for fourth with a 65.
Brian Luippold won the Pinehurst Flight with a 60, while Roy Emerson, Josh Cook and Matt Pitoniak tied for second at 61. John Cormican came in fifth with a 62, and John Stacy and Rich Fahey tied for sixth at 64.
Dave Marquis won the Winged Foot Flight with a 66, while Adis Jarovic and Richard Peel tied for second with a 68.
Anne Lyman won the Pebble Beach Flight with a 77, and Donna Yetter came in second with a 91. Carol Ruggeri won the Country Club Flight with a 64, followed by Sue Sigda with a 69. Alane Smith won the Seminole Flight with a 71, Ann McHugh came in second with a 74, and Sue McDonald and Wendy Blanchard tied for third with a 79. Phyllis Canon won the Oakmont Flight with a 61, and Kathie Fahey finished second with a 63.
Jason Kelton won the Merion Flight with a 53, followed by Jack Varner with a 54. Will Conant and Matt Eaton tied for third with a 55, and Mike Kuchieski, Dave Donoghue and Chuck Yetter tied for fifth at 57.
The Brass City Brawlers defeated the Franklin County Greyhounds, 39-0, in a New England Football League game at Mahar Regional School in Orange on Saturday.
The Greyhounds (1-4) have two bye weeks before getting back to work on Sept. 13 in Middletown, Conn. against the Middletown Spartans, who the Greyhounds already defeated this season.
The Brawlers, from Waterbury, Conn., jumped out to an early lead when Rara Jones took an interception back 89 yards for a touchdown and it proved to be the beginning of a long day for Franklin County quarterback Cory Meckling (8-for-27 for 131 yards, three touchdowns and one fumble) and the rest of the Greyhounds.
Kyle Laffey finished with three solo and seven assisted tackles for the Greyhounds’ defense, while Ricky Ayala finished with four solo and seven assisted tackles. Offensively, Zach Butynski finished with four catches for 59 yards, while Chris Krzykowski had one catch for 49 yards. Butynski also had one interception and a forced fumble.
