Names put forward for Erving selectman’s seat
ERVING — Three people want to be the town’s next selectman.
They have submitted paperwork to fill the remainder of former chairman Eugene Klepadlo’s term on the Board of Selectmen.
Town Administrative Coordinator Thomas Sharp said Arthur Johnson of 93 Mountain Road, George Moonlight Davis of 27 Strachan St., and Scott Fritz of 6 Central St., returned their nomination papers with ample signatures.
Candidates are not official until certified by the town clerk, responsible for verifying that the signatures gathered by each candidate belong to registered voters. Unwittingly lapsed registrations have sidelined candidates in the past. A minimum of 20 signatures are required, but Sharp said all three prudently gathered at least 10 extra.
The open term expires in May of 2016. A special election is scheduled for Oct. 7, with polls open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the Town Hall, 12 East Main St.
