Water main break closes GCC

GREENFIELD — A water main break has forced the closure of Greenfield Community College’s main campus today as of 11 a.m., the school announced this morning.

The accidental break was caused by construction of a $1.5 million roundabout at the school’s entrance onto Colrain Road, GCC President Bob Pura said.

According to Pura, just a few summer classes were affected.

The school will remain closed for the day. The downtown center remains open. Pura said he is optimistic the campus will reopen Friday.
