Sunderland to hold forum on housing, property purchase

SUNDERLAND — The Sunderland Board of Selectmen will hold a public forum Monday to discuss the proposed purchase of 120 North Main St.

The forum will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Town Office Building’s second floor meeting room. According to Town Administrator Margaret Z. Nartowicz, the property in question, which is currently owned by Sophie Buczynski, is well-suited to help the town meet the goals in its housing plan.

She said the 2.8-acre property will be looked at for a possible affordable housing project.

“It will be a discussion about housing on that parcel. It’s for the public to discuss any and all ideas or options for that property,” Nartowicz said.

According to Nartowicz, the Board of Selectmen has a $245,000 purchase-sale agreement pending for the property, but would need a green light from voters at a special town meeting to close on the deal. She said a date for that meeting would likely be set at the conclusion of the forum.

Residents are invited to submit comments in writing to by Monday.
