Red Door wins shootout against Team Allure
Todd Wiles and Nick Aldrich each went 5-for-6 on Friday night as the Red Door clubbed Team Allure, 28-13, in a Greenfield Co-Rec Adult Softball League game at Greenfield Middle School.
Donna Tanner went 3-for-5 with an RBI in the win, and Kristi Roberts went 3-for-4.
Kelly Thayer and Brian Ginnity each went 3-for-3 in the loss.
Frontier 14s fall
Kimberly Asseng singled, doubled and drove in two runs on Tuesday, but Frontier suffered a 11-8 loss to Southwick in a Suburban League Under-14 softball game in Southwick.
Caitlyn Devine doubled and drove in a run, and Hanna LaClaire singled and plated a run.
Union 38 Summer Clinic
Missy Mahar, Frontier Regional School’s field hockey coach, is sponsoring an introductory program for girls in grades 3 through 6 from the towns of Deerfield, Whately, Sunderland and Conway.
The clinic will take place Wednesday and Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Memorial Field behind Deerfield Town Hall, off Conway Street in South Deerfield.
Field hockey sticks, balls and shin guards will be provided to the first 35 girls who register, though an equipment deposit is required. Girls should bring a mouth guard and a water bottle each night. Registration is $5, and the equipment deposit is $50. Make checks payable to the Town of Deerfield.

The Greenfield Tennis Association is hosting two events this month.
• The annual Beacon Doubles Tournament will take place on Aug. 9 and 10 at the Beacon Field and Highland Park clay courts in Greenfield.
The tournament is double-elimination, best-of-three sets and open to men and women age 15 and older. Entry fee is $20 per team. Each team should bring a can of unopened tennis balls. Gift certificates to People’s Pint and other local restaurants will be awarded to the winners and runners-up, and all participants will receive a 10 percent discount for lunch, dinner and drinks at the People’s Pint during the tournament. Play begins at 9:30 a.m. and the rain date will be the following weekend.

• Also, registrations are still taking place for the Wood Racket Tennis Tournament at the Beacon Field Tennis Courts in Greenfield from Aug. 18 through Aug. 21.
The tournament is a singles format, best-of-three sets. Trophies will be awarded to the first- and second-place finishers. The tournament is open to men and women 15 and older and costs $10.
There will also be a separate loser’s bracket, with a prize given to whoever wins the loser’s bracket championship.

Wiles benefit tourney
A benefit golf tournament for Indira Wiles will be held Aug. 16 at Thomas Memorial Golf & Country Club in Turners Falls.
Entry fee is $65 per person, including cart, for the four-person scramble, which will begin with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Hot dogs will be available on the course.
Proceeds will help offset Wiles’ medical costs. Rain date for the tournament is Aug. 17.

Montague Mug Race
The 34th annual Montague Mug Race will be held Aug. 16 at 8:30 a.m.
The 5.5-mile road race starts at the Village Common and finishes at the ball field. Pewter mugs are awarded to top male and female finishers and coffee mugs to top finishers of each division. T-shirts will be given to the first 90 registered runners.
At 8:35 a.m., the 10th annual Mini Mug Race will be run. The scenic two-mile course goes around the Old South Cemetery and also finishes at the ball field.
All runners are entered into a drawing for local prizes.
Registration for both races will begin at 7:30 that morning, and advance registration forms can be found at the YMCA in Greenfield, The Body Shoppe, Montague Parks and Recreation office and the Montague Center Post Office. Runners can visit runreg.com to register online.
