GREENFIELD — A new seafood and steak restaurant has opened in an old, familiar spot on Federal Street.
Ocean Grill & Steak House opened quietly a little more than a week ago in the space where Famous Bill’s and, most recently, Greenfield Grille were once located at 30 Federal St.
Co-owner Jim Sands, who also owns Zoe’s Fish House in Hadley, said there will be something for everyone, including fresh fish delivered daily, steak, pasta, burgers, sandwiches and more.
“We’ll be strongly featuring fish and we’ll have several exotic choices each week,” said Sands, who co-owns the restaurant with Paul Cheng, who used to own China Gourmet on the Mohawk Trail and currently owns Ginger Garden in Hadley.
Sands said Ocean Grill has a family-friendly, casual atmosphere, but will also appeal to sophisticated diners.
“We’ll appeal to the masses because we have something for a sophisticated diner as well as a 10-year-old,” he said.
Sands said he believes customers will come to know Ocean Grill & Steak House as their neighborhood bar and grill.
Sands said there will always be five or six fresh fish selections, as well as several types of oysters, and plenty of steak and other types of land food.
He said diners will find specials like Georges Bank scrod, Hawaiian ono, also known as wahoo, and Block Island swordfish. He said the restaurant currently serves three different sizes of Maine lobsters.
Sands said the restaurant has 12 beers on tap.
“I think people are going to be pleased,” he said.
Ocean Grill & Steak House is open Monday through Thursday 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Prices range from about $10 to about $30.
Greenfield Grille opened five years ago in the same spot that had been occupied by the landmark Famous Bill’s Restaurant.
The main restaurant seats about 130 people and the function room can accommodate another 130 for a plated dinner or a couple hundred for an event where people aren’t sitting at tables.
Sands said the owners have more plans for the restaurant, but won’t announce them for several weeks, at least.
