Kinder Morgan announces agreements with gas buyers
Tennessee Gas Pipeline Co. parent Kinder Morgan Energy Partners announced Wednesday it has reached agreement with “key local natural gas distribution companies” throughout New England to transport approximately 500,000 dekatherms per day for the Wright, N.Y.-to-Dracut portion of its proposed Northeast Energy Direct Project.
Included are The Berkshire Gas Co. and National Grid.
Kinder Morgan is continuing to negotiate with additional customers along the pipeline, which begins in the Marcellus shale region of Pennsylvania.
Kinder Morgan’s Natural Gas Pipelines East Region President Kimberly S. Watson said, “Multiple studies continue to suggest there is a need for up to 2 billion cubic feet per day of new pipeline capacity into New England and neighboring markets, and the commitment by the (distribution customers) represents a critical milestone in the development of TGP’s role in solving the need for new energy infrastructure.”
