Northfield community picnic set for Saturday
NORTHFIELD — Local music, local food and local folk will come together for a community picnic Saturday.
Transition Northfield is inviting the town to its fourth annual picnic from noon to 2 p.m. at Kiwanis Park on School Street.
Entertainment will include children’s singer and storyteller David Bates, as well as local musicians Joe Graveline and The ROMEOS, or “Retired Old Men Entertaining Others.”
At 1:30 p.m., everyone will be offered free ice cream and watermelon, compliments of the Friends of the Library, who want to honor the participants in the summer reading program.
The menu consists of beef and veggie burgers, hot dogs, garden salad, grilled corn on the cob, chips and a drink.
All the food will be locally grown or locally bought.
You can save a dollar by buying tickets ahead of time at Mim’s Market, Northfield Food Market, Dickinson Memorial Library, Northfield Coffee and Books, the Northfield Creamie and the Senior Center.
Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for kids 12 and younger. Advance sales will end Thursday, but tickets will be available at the park Saturday, at $8 for adults and $5 for children.
