Erving pipeline talk set for Tuesday night

ERVING — Representatives of the company proposing to build a natural gas pipeline through the county and town are scheduled to attend a public hearing Tuesday evening.

Tennessee Gas Pipeline Co. representatives will meet with the Board of Selectmen in the gym of the Erving Elementary School, 28 Northfield Road, Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

“We hope to get a better understanding of the proposed natural gas pipeline from (Tennessee) Gas Pipeline and learn how this may affect Erving residents,” read an announcement signed by Eugene Klepadlo, chairman of the Board of Selectmen.

A group of Erving residents had requested some action from the board to counter or delay the project. The board opted not to take a position, requesting a public meeting with the company before putting any stance on the pipeline to a town meeting vote.

A broader public meeting, before the Franklin Regional Council of Governments and its Franklin Regional Planning Board, is scheduled for July 24 at 6 p.m. in the Greenfield Community College dining commons.
