Manny’s dumps Teddies
Asher Young struck out seven over seven inning and allowed just five hits and one run as Manny’s TV & Appliance drew first blood in the battle for Franklin County supremacy with a 4-1 Tri-County League men’s baseball win over Teddy Bear Pools Monday night at Valiton Field in South Deerfield.
Manny’s scored all four runs in the second inning off Teddy Bear starter Jon Atkins, who struggled with control and wound up walking three batters in the inning, all of whom scored. Soren Pelz-Walsh hit a two-run single in the inning, and Mike Duclos added an RBI groundout.
That was enough for Young, who allowed only one run in the sixth inning, when back-to-back singles by Casey Blanchard and Kyle Platner left Blanchard in scoring position for Zach Bartak, who drove in the run with a sacrifice fly.
Adamski and Hudson each finished with two hits in the win, while Brian Hayes added one hit.
Platner collected two hits in the loss, Nick Marscher tripled, and Brad Bean singled. Joey Larson pitched five innings of scoreless relief.
