Gill arson lands two Franklin County men in jail

GREENFIELD — Two local men will serve time in jail for setting fire to a Gill home in 2011.

Demek Ryan, 26, of 34 River Road, Gill, pleaded guilty to arson of a dwelling and conspiracy on Thursday morning, according to court records. He was sentenced to serve 12 months at the House of Correction with two years probation.

His co-defendant, Michael Radzuik, 25, of 16 Central St., Erving, pleaded guilty and was sentenced on Tuesday to two to three years in Cedar Junction for arson of a dwelling, with two years probation after release on charges of malicious destruction of property over $250 and four counts of assault.

Charges of misleading police, and conspiracy were not prosecuted.

In September 2011, the two men set fire to a house at 15 Grout Road in Gill while a family of four was inside, according to court files.
