Erving’s Box Car restaurant closed
ERVING — The Box Car restaurant is closed. Signs in the windows of the Erving Center building hold out some hope that this will be a temporary state of affairs.
“We are temporarily closed — we hope to be back soon — Thank you to all of our customers for your continued support,” read printed notices in the windows.
The diner has been a breakfast and lunch stop on Route 2 for passing motorists and locals for years, and a local landmark in a town with few businesses. A 2010 arson closed the establishment for a time and it was lately under new management.
