Letter: Time for change
I will be voting for Isaac Mass councilor at large and Chris Miller in Precinct 6. When Isaac and Chris came to my home, they took the time to understand the issues that are important to me. I agree with Isaac that economic development and jobs are critical to expanding our tax base and providing good services. I am also concerned about how quick our property taxes are rising. I know we need to pay for services, but the current Town Council president wants to add a 21/2 percent increase on top of the debt exclusion for the high school and then another surtax of up to 3 percent for the Community Preservation Act. I am confident that Isaac Mass will look to an expanding tax base and alternative forms of revenue generation, like his idea about keeping our money from speeding tickets.
My current precinct councilor, Hillary Hoffman, has never met me, nor came to ask for my vote, even though we are neighbors. She did not know/acknowledge that my husband, who was a dedicated 21-year School Department employee, recently died on the job. How can you take care of town employees and citizens when you are so out of touch? During the debate she admitted to voting on things she hadn’t even read. I don’t want to see more of the same. I am ready for a change.
This June 10, I will vote for Isaac Mass councilor at large, Chris Miller for Precinct 6 — and for a change.
