Bulletin Board: Young grand slam carries Elks past Booska's
Bailey Young belted a grand slam on Friday night to lead Montague Elks Lodge to a 6-0 win over Booska’s Flooring in a Newt Guilbault Community League youth baseball game at Campbell Field in Turners Falls.
Young also singled and earned the win on the mound. Gavin Rubio singled and drove in two runs.
Jake Lyons doubled for Booska’s, while Derrick Henderson and Tyler Noyes each singled.
• In other action, Michael Patnode homered as part of a two-hit performance and Greenfield Savings Bank defeated St. Kazimierz Society, 9-4.
Jaden Whiting and Jack Hamilton each added two hits in the win.
Jake Dodge, Kyle Brunelle and Owen Toal each had one hit in the loss.
Mixed Doubles Tourny
Registrations are being accepted for the Mixed Doubles Tournament on June 7 at 10 a.m. at the Beacon Field Tennis Courts in Greenfield.
Cost is $20 per team plus a can of unopened tennis balls and the tournament is open to players ages high school to adult. Deadline to register is June 4, and all money raised goes to the Greenfield Tennis Association.

Greenfield Tennis Cup
Registrations are being accepted for the Greenfield Tennis Cup from June 16-19 at the Beacon Field Tennis Courts in Greenfield.
The tournament is a singles format (best of three sets) with separate divisions for men and women. Players ages 15 & older are eligible to play. All matches start at 5:30. Cost is $10 per player plus a can of unopened tennis balls.
The winner of each division gets a $25 gift certificate to sponsor Shelburne Falls Coffee Roasters, while the runners-up in each division get a $15 gift certificate.
Deadline to register is June 15 at 6.

Clay court preservation tourny
The annual Greenfield Clay Court Preservation Tournament will take place on June 14 at the Beacon Field Tennis Courts in Greenfield.
Cost is $20 for Greenfield Tennis Association members and $30 for non-members. Players should arrive between 8:15-8:45 a.m. for registration. The event is an open doubles event. Players register as individuals and will be randomly assigned a partner for the first round. Lunch will be provided and play will continue until mid-afternoon.

Northfield Summer Series
The Northfield Summer Road Race will open up on June 5 in the lower parking lot of Northfield Coffee and Books.
Registration for the 3.3-mile race begins at 6 p.m. and the race starts at 6:30. Cost is $3 per entry or $5 per family. The race series continues every Thursday from June through August, rain or shine. Last season 30-60 runners turned out per week. Aaron Stone holds the men’s course record at 18 minutes, 19 seconds, while Natalie Mako holds the top women’s time in 21:05. Walkers are welcome to start the course early. Every finisher gets a prize from the award table, which includes gift certificates from area stores and restaurants, home-made baked goods, and fresh produce.

Isabella Allen pitched well and scored twice to lead Franklin Ortho to a 9-4 win over Diamond Dusters in a Greenfield Girls Softball League game Thursday at Murphy Park in Greenfield.
Maralee Wiles played well defensively, and Taylor Mahar scored twice.
Catie Reynolds pitched well and scored a run for the Dusters, while Allie Gorts and Katherine Fortin each scored a run.
Mike Cormie went 2-for-2 with a home run and St. Stanislaus Society defeated Artscape, 11-1, in a Montague Co-Rec Adult Softball League game Thursday night at Green River Park in Greenfield.
Katelyn Mailloux went 3-for-3 in the win, and Nate Pecor and Jay Liimatainen each went 2-for-3.
Francie Hall and Barb Ladd tied Sue Willard and Diane O’Connell with a 91 for low gross in Class A during a Partners Play Tournament in the Thursday Morning Ladies League at the Ashfield Community Golf Club.
Connie Szelewicki and Bev Williams won low gross in Class B with a 96. Ladd had the fewest putts with 13.
Terry Boyce won low gross with a 42 during the Crumpin-Fox Club Wednesday Ladies League in Bernardston.
Boyce tied Lora Gross and Deb Putnam for low net with a 38. Diane Griffin was closest to the pin on both Nos. 3 (33 feet, 4 inches) and 9 (19-7).
Burt White was a plus-8 to win the weekly point quota during the Knights of Columbus Golf League at Thomas Memorial Golf and Country Club in Turners Falls on Wednesday.
Ed Kerswig Jr. was second at plus-5. Steve Ciechomski was closest to the pin on No. 7 at 12 feet, 2 inches, while Bruce Dion was closest on No. 9 at 12-11.
Dorothy Adams was a plus-6 to win the weekly point quota during the Thomas Memorial Ladies League Wednesday in Turners Falls.
