Seventh Street parking ban changes again

TURNERS FALLS — Disregard the previous Seventh Street parking ban changes. No-parking zones will now alternate sides in a compromise between parking interests.

After hearing the concerns of a handful of north side residents who lost street access to their homes for a year, the Board of Selectmen voted last month to switch the parking ban from one side of the street to the other, effective once the Highway Department moves the signs.

That change never took effect, and a second hearing on the topic Monday with representatives of the resident and church communities from both sides of L Street resulted in a new plan to alternate parking on the street.

The new order bans parking from L Street down to T Street on the north side of Seventh Street and from T Street to Avenue A on the south side, with the signs to be moved to reflect this.

The original ban was intended as a one-year trial. The latest will be up for review in October.
