False fire alarms bring charges
ORANGE — Two men face charges after police and firefighters responded to a series of false fire alarms Friday night into Saturday morning.
Orange Fire Department responded to fire box alarms at 10:40 p.m. from Pleasant and West streets, 11:05 from Cheney and Carpenter streets and 12:06 a.m. from South Main and King streets, according to a release from the Orange Police Department.
Police checking the area of the third alarm caught up with a man who ran from the area of Church Street and hid among industrial equipment in the rear of Clear Light Industries, 48 East River St.
Police arrested Adam Sostilio, 22, of 108 Pleasant St., Orange, charging him with trespassing. A police dog subsequently picked up a scent trail from the fire alarm box on South Main and King streets to Sostilio, according to police.
Sostilio faces three counts of tampering with a fire call box.
A second man, a 22-year-old Wendell resident who was not arrested, will be summoned to Orange District Court on three counts of tampering with a fire call box.
