Letter: My candidacy
My name is John Lyford. I am running for Precinct 5 town councilor. I am a retired Greenfield firefighter, having served the town for 26 years.
As a former employee, I feel I have confidence on how the town government works. I have an intimate knowledge of Greenfield, its neighborhoods and people.
I have experience in dealing with Precinct 5 issues. An East Greenfield neighborhood committee was formed in early 2000. I have been on this committee since 2005. We meet every few months to discuss on how we can improve the quality of life for residents and business.
I am an unenrolled independent candidate. I have taken no campaign funds and I am beholden to nobody. My reasons for running are simple, to continue my public service and do what is in the best interest for the people of Greenfield. I feel I can bring many qualities to the Town Council.
My platform is to keep stability regarding the town finances. To make sure the town employees have the tools they need to succeed. To protect our rural heritage and to safeguard our recreational areas. I also want to be part of implementing our master plan, our visionary blueprint for the future.
If any Precinct 5 citizen has any questions about my campaign or to discuss the many important issues we all face, you can reach me at 773-3417 and I would be happy to outline my vision with you.
Clearly, I cannot continue my public service without your vote April 15. Voting is a very important part of our democratic process. Please get out and vote.
