Nomination papers available in Charlemont

CHARLEMONT — Nomination papers are now available from Town Clerk Kathy Reynolds’ office for those who would like to run for a town position in this spring’s annual town election on May 27.

To run for election, nomination papers must be filled out and returned with the appropriate number of voter signatures by 5 p.m. on April 23.

Here are the positions that are to be decided in this year’s election, along with the names of current incumbents. All are for three-year terms unless otherwise noted:

Selectman, David Cunningham; Moderator (one year) Charlotte Dewey; three-year assessor’s term (vacant); Charlemont School Committee: Ivy Palmer (three-year term) and Marguerite Rancourt (one-year term); Mohawk Trail Regional School Committee, appointee Evelyn Locke (two-year term); Tree Warden, Stephen Reynolds, one year.

Three Planning Board terms: Gisela Walker, (five years), appointee Michael Kane (two years), and a vacant associate planner position. Three Board of Health positions: three year terms, incumbents Robert Lingle and Ronald Smith; and two-year term, Douglas Telling. Two Parks and Recreation Commission posts: a vacant five-year seat and a two-year seat held by appointee Sarah Reynolds.

Tyler Memorial Library Trustee Susan Williams; and Constable William Harker.

The last day to register to vote in time for the annual election and annual town meeting will be May 7.
