West sweeps East in hoop all-star games

Most Outstanding Player Robin Marchese of Greenfield High School netted a game-high 19 points to power the West to a 104-98 win over the East in the IAABO Board No. 28 Boys’ Senior High School All-Star Game on Friday night at Easthampton High School.

Keith Natale of Smith Academy and Tyler Hannigan-Page of Northampton High School each added 12 for the West.

Turners Falls High School’s Malcolm Smith was Most Outstanding Player for the East with his 11-point, 11-assist effort. Corey Baker of Granby High School drained 16 points and Brendin Woodard of Mahar Regional School chipped in with 12.

• In the Girls’ All-Star Game, Anna Walther of Northampton scored 19 points for Most Outstanding Player honors in the West’s 68-61 win over the East.

Amanda Calvo of Frontier aided the win with 11 points, while Hampshire Regional High School’s Laura Whiteley pitched in with 6.

Xin Xin Tarren of Amherst Regional High School finished with 12 points and earned Most Outstanding Player laurels for the East. Natashia Patria of Mahar and Kara Callahan of South Hadley High School both had 8.

Over $1,800 was raised for the IAABO’s Casey Scholarship Fund.
