Letter: Just plain silly
The uproar over a well-known, environmentally concerned resident proposing revisions to local rules and regulations is silly, when viewed in the context of what is happening with law-making on the federal and state level. Corporations and well-funded, politically motivated organizations are writing legislation right and left (mostly right) “on behalf” of our legislators, who are supposed to be the ones writing laws, with feedback from us citizens. Where’s the uproar about that?
One small example: The American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) is an organization that fights clean energy, demands public school science teachers deny climate science, tries to hide the most toxic chemicals used in fracking, attacks voting rights and helped create “stand your ground” legislation.
Do I hear any peeps from the people?
