Letter: Commending Singer
I commend David Singer’s decision to involve Mr. Norman in the rewrite of the wetlands ordinance. Whether one agrees with Mr. Norman’s views, it can’t be seriously debated that he is knowledgeable about the subject and will be heard one way or another. Mr. Singer’s decision to invite him into the “tent” was a reasonable response to someone who is not shy about expressing his views concerning development and the preservation of our natural resources. It seems to me that in this arena, government officials should always err on the side of more speech, not less. As for Mr. Norman, he has a constitutional right to express his views; he should not be demonized, even if you disagree with his opinions.
