Snowblower accident mangles man’s hand
TURNERS FALLS — A local man was hospitalized after severely injuring his hand in a snowblower accident.
“He amputated part of one, possibly part of two fingers,” said Turners Falls Fire Capt. John Zellman. “He was running down the road toward me when we got there.”
Zellman said the 22-year-old man lives in Turners Falls, but was snowblowing someone else’s property on Dell Street when the accident happened.
The man, whose identity was not released, was transported to Baystate Franklin Medical Center.
Zellman said such accidents are not uncommon.
“We get at least one or two of these calls every year,” he said.
