School budget, tuition, Berskshire Union on agendas this week

ROWE — The school budget, tuition agreement with Mohawk and deliberations on joining the Northern Berkshire School Union are among the topics of a series of School Committee meetings this week.

Tonight at 5:30 p.m., Selectmen, School Committee members and the Finance Committee are scheduled to meet in Town Hall with members of the Mohawk Trail Regional School District Committee, to discuss tuition calculations for Rowe to send its secondary education students to Mohawk.

The school budget public hearing, which was canceled last week because of the snowstorm, will now be held on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. Following the budget hearing, the School Committee will vote to adopt its Fiscal Year 2015 budget proposal, which is about $1.5 million for both elementary and secondary education.

At 7 p.m. on Thursday, the school board meets with the Northern Berkshire School Union, with a possible vote to be taken regarding the next school superintendent.

Voter registration session on Friday

ROWE — A voter registration session will be held Friday at the Rowe Town Clerk’s Office. The voter registration session will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 8 p.m. This is the last chance for eligible residents to register to vote before the special town meeting on March 5. The warrant for that meeting has not yet been posted.
