Task force meeting Friday on drug issues
GREENFIELD — The task force formed to address the ongoing heroin and prescription pill problem in Franklin and Hampshire counties and the North Quabbin region meets Friday.
This is the fourth meeting of the group, a coalition of area professionals from the legal, medical and law enforcement communities, concerned citizens, and others spearheaded by Franklin Register of Family and Probate Court John Merrigan, Franklin County Sheriff Christopher Donelan and Northwestern District Attorney David Sullivan.
Attendance at past meetings of the Opiate/Opioid Education and Awareness Task Force has numbered in the 30s.
The meeting is scheduled for 2 p.m. on the Greenfield Community College campus, 1 College Drive, Greenfield.
Past meetings have been held in an upstairs conference room of the main building.

Another local group, the health care advocacy group that calls itself the Community Health Care Initiative, has scheduled a forum on the topic of mental health and drug abuse in Franklin County for 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the Greenfield Middle School, 195 Federal St.
