Rosenberg backs Grossman for gov.

State Sen. Stanley Rosenberg has endorsed Treasurer Steve Grossman’s candidacy for governor, citing his record of championing progressive policy throughout his business, philanthropic and political career.

“Steve has the vision and experience creating jobs and economic opportunity that hard-working families and individuals need from their governor,” said Rosenberg in a statement released Thursday. “What distinguishes him in this race is his proven record of success and his lifetime of leadership fighting for the values of economic fairness and equality of opportunity.”

Rosenberg’s press statement quoted Grossman as saying, “I’m deeply humbled and honored to have Stan’s support. He is a leader who exemplifies the vision that has made Massachusetts a national model for progressive policy. We share ambitious, progressive ideas for using government as a vehicle to enhance and enrich the quality of life for so many of our fellow citizens who feel left out and left behind.”

Grossman took office as state treasurer in 2011 after a long career as a small businessman, philanthropist and progressive political activist.
