Baystate Health to hold blood drive Thursday

GREENFIELD — The Baystate Health Blood Donor Mobile will host a drive on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., in the hospital’s Medical Office Building parking lot, 48 Sanderson St. All blood types are needed. Eligible blood donors will receive a Baystate blood donor sweatshirt.

Blood donations take approximately one hour to complete including the interview, donation and refreshments. Donors must be at least 17 years old; weigh at least 110 pounds; have a photo ID; be in good health (no colds, sore throat; no antibiotics within 48 hours); and not have donated blood within the past eight weeks. Donors may give if they have had the flu vaccine or flu mist.

Appointments and preregistration are recommended; however, walk-ins are also welcome. To make an appointment, contact the Blood Donor Center, 413-794-4600 or email Katie.schebel@baystatehealth.org. Indicate the approximate time of arrival, birth date, phone number, and whether this will be a first donation within Baystate Health.
