Donations sought for 10 Orange fire victims

ORANGE — A donation account has been set up to help the 10 elderly and disabled people forced from their homes in a Jan. 5 apartment building fire.

Two of eight apartments in a two-story building at 200 East River St. were destroyed, the roof was damaged, and there was smoke and water damage to several other apartments.

The apartment building is part of Colonial Acres, a low-income, elderly and disabled housing complex which is run by the Orange Housing Authority.

There are two ways for the public to help the displaced residents.

An account has been set up at TD Bank for check and cash donations. The account is under the name Victor Miller, pastor of the Erving Evangelical Congregational Church.

The Orange Housing Authority will coordinate donations of goods such as furniture, clothing, housewares and other items. Call the housing authority at 978-544-6000 to find out what is needed.
