3 hospitalized, released after weekend crash

DEERFIELD — A two-car collision on Routes 5 and 10 sent three people to the hospital with minor injuries on Saturday, according to police.

Deerfield Police Chief John Paciorek Jr. said the driver of a 2010 Nissan Altima pulled out of the Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Hospital parking lot and into the passenger-side front quarter panel of a northbound 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier.

Paciorek said the driver of the Nissan, Ryan Murphy, 29, of West Springfield was transported to Baystate Franklin Medical Center with minor injuries, and cited for marked lanes violation, impeded operation and failure to use care in starting. Murphy has a medical condition which may have contributed to the accident, Paciorek said.

Francis and Doreen Urzedowski, both 50 and of Union Street in Greenfield, were similarly transported with minor injuries.

All three have been released from the hospital.

Paciorek said both vehicles were destroyed and were towed from the scene.
