Greenfield, Mass Police Department: Hatfield Man arrested on Drug Charges. # gpdmass
On Tuesday 04/22/14 just before 7pm Officer Felix Ramos noticed a vehicle operating at a high rate of speed with an expired inspection sticker in the area of Grove St. Upon pulling the vehicle over, Officer Ramos noticed a large amount of marijuana in a mason jar in the glovebox of the vehicle as the operator searched for his registration. Upon a brief investigation and search of the vehicle, Officer Ramos located over 3 ounces of marijuana, illegally possessed morphine pills, illegally possessed oxycontin pills, over 18 grams of hashish, a straw used for snorting illegal substances and just under $300.00 in cash. When the operator was presented with the drugs found in his car, the operator stated to the officer "I'm not really worried about it, it's my first offense."
The operator later stated that the cash was obtained from illegal marijuana sales. Officer Ramos was able to formulate probable cause that 22 year old George Gay of 17 Scotland Rd in Hatfield Ma was in possession of a class "d" substance (marijuana) with intent to distribute, possession of a class "c" substance (hashish) , possession of a class "b" substance (oxycontin) possession of a class "a" substance (morphine), speeding and a vehicle not meeting RMV safety standards. He was released on $100 bail.
(As many are not aware of what Hash looks like, we included a close up the seized substance)
Montague Police Department: Seventh Street Parking:
By the end of this week the parking areas along Seventh Street from Avenue A to L Street will change. As soon as the signs are in place this change will take effect.
The parking will be as follows:
* Parking will only be allowed on the "south side" of Seventh Street in front of Our Lady of Peace and along the area from L Street to T Street.
* Parking is only allowed on the "north side" of Seventh Street from T Street down to the alley behind St. Kaz.
The signs will be properly placed so the designated areas should be easy to spot.
This runs as a trial until October 2014 to determine if this is a safe option.
