CHARLEMONT — The Hilltown Youth Performing Arts programs are moving from the Academy at Charlemont to the Hawlemont Regional School campus this summer for theater arts classes. Openings are still available for both the Hilltown Youth Theatre Summer Workshop and for the pre-workshop Recovery Intensive.

The Hilltown Youth Theatre summer workshop begins on July 16, culminating in outdoor performances of “Avatar, The Last Airbender” at the Berkshire East Mountain Resort in August.

“We will be using the aerial park, zip lines, and installing our aerial trapeze at the base of Lower Comp (ski trail near the lodge), and our (circus silks) at the top of Flying Cloud (ski trail),” according to founder and Director Jonathan Diamond. “Theater-goers will ride chairlifts to the closing scenes.”

The performances take place from Aug. 4 through 7, with admission by donation. There are available openings in both the Hilltown Youth Performing Arts Program and in the pre-workshop Recovery Intensive.

From July 2 through 13, pre-workshop Summer Recovery Intensives are scheduled for young people overcoming addiction, trauma, anxiety, depression and other behavioral challenges.

Guest artists and returning staff for this summer will include: trapeze artists Arlie Hart and Jen Mackert Kroon; Scott Halligan (former Double Edge and Mohawk music director); theater program alumni Zach Arfa; Mohawk Trail Regional School art teacher Rachel Silverman; set designer Laura Iveson; film production designer Larry Sampson; choreographer Molly Fletcher Lynch; Double Edge Theatre ensemble member Hannah Jarrell; and Knighthorse Theatre.
