Free Christmas Carol Sing and Concert: Today at 6

GREENFIELD — You are cordially invited to a Christmas Carol Sing & Concert at the Greenfield High School auditorium on Saturday, Dec. 9, at 6 p.m. Last year, we had about 500 people attend who enjoyed a great time of singing carols as well as music from the 4D1G Gospel Quartet, Valley Revival Choir and several other talented singers and musicians. Free admission.

Historic pipe organ and grand piano on display today

NORTHFIELD — During the Special Day in Northfield Celebration, today, there will be music on the hour from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at First Parish Unitarian, corner of Parker Avenue and Main Street. It will be an opportunity to hear the church’s historic pipe organ and Steinway grand piano, both played by Lynne Walker, as well as vocalists.

Community Holiday Concert today in Montague

MONTAGUE CENTER — All are invited to a Community Holiday Concert on Saturday, Dec. 9, from 5 to 6:30 p.m., at Montague Congregational Church, 4 North St. Steve Ciechomski and Tom Kostek will perform. Impromptu Christmas Pageant: Sunday

GREENFIELD — Take part in Second Congregational Church’s annual Impromptu Christmas Pageant, Sunday, Dec. 10. Come at 3 p.m., grab a costume, practice and be part of the retelling of the Christmas story with adults and children at 4 p.m. Followed by a mac & cheese dinner, free to all. The church is at 16 Court Square.

Service of Lessons and Carols: Sunday at The First Church

DEERFIELD — A Community Service of Lessons and Carols is planned for Sunday, Dec. 10, at 4 p.m., at The First Church of Deerfield, 71 Old Main St. The service will include readings, choral and instrumental music and Christmas carols sung by all. Choirs from The Bement School, Deerfield Academy, Eaglebrook School, Stoneleigh-Burnham School and The First Church of Deerfield will participate.

Dan Tinen on: ‘An Emotional Season’ Sunday

UU speaker Dan Tinen will offer help in making this season one of personal and spiritual growth in “An Emotional Season:” 10 a.m. in First Parish, Unitarian in Northfield and 11:30 a.m. at Bernardston Unitarian Church. (Coffee at 11 a.m.)

Blue Christmas Service: Tuesday at 7

GREENFIELD — Second Congregational Church, 16 Court Square, will hold a service on Tuesday, Dec. 12, at 7 p.m., for all who need comfort during advent. This is a place to find rest and words of healing. Music, candles and reflection.

Women’s Solstice Gathering: Thursday

BERNARDSTON — The Women’s Group of the Bernardston Unitarians will have a Winter Solstice Gathering on Thursday, Dec. 14, from 3 to 6 p.m. Bring a seasonal poem or reading and a finger food to share. Celebrate Chanukah: Dec. 17

GREENFIELD — Celebrate Chanukah with light, latkes and community, Sunday, Dec. 17, from 4 to 6 p.m., at Hawks & Reed Performing Arts Center, 289 Main St. Music and dancing with the Wholesale Klezmer Band, Chanukah games, family-friendly crafts and a candle-lighting ceremony at 5:30 p.m. Bring your menorah! $5 admission. $10 gets you admission plus a plate of latkes.

Black Gospel Christmas: Dec. 16 in Amherst

AMHERST — The Amherst Area Gospel Choir, under the direction of Jacqueline Wallace, will present its “Black Gospel Christmas” Saturday, Dec. 16 at the First Congregational Church, 165 Main St., from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Traditional and contemporary gospel offerings include: red hot gospel, smooth jazz gospel and spirituals. Yule Celebration: Dec. 17

FLORENCE — EarthSpirit invites you to celebrate the rebirth of the Sun after the longest night at its western Mass. Yule Celebration on Sunday, Dec. 17, at 7 p.m., at the Florence Civic Center, 90 Park St. Ritual at 7:30 p.m. Donation: $7 to $10. Families welcome. Bring a pair of warm new socks or some travel-size toiletries for a local shelter.
