Advent Penance Service: Sunday at 2 at Holy Trinity

GREENFIELD — An Advent Penance Service for the Greenfield Catholic Community, the parishes of Blessed Sacrament and Holy Trinity, takes place at Holy Trinity Church on Sunday, Dec. 3, at 2 p.m. Many priests will be available to hear confessions. It is a wondrous opportunity to see the forgiveness of sins and enter into the true spirit of the Christmas season.

Heart-Centered Kirtan: Sunday at First Parish, Unitarian

NORTHFIELD — First Parish of Northfield, Unitarian will welcome Heart Centered Kirtan (Libby Volckening joined by Thomas Matherly and Anna Sobel) on Sunday, Dec. 3 at 10 a.m. In their modern adaptation of kirtan, they weave Sanskrit hymns, prayers and inspirational texts from ancient India into their own original blend of rock, blues and reggae. Religious Education will be available. All are welcome. First Parish is on the corner of Parker Avenue and Main Street.

Program of lessons and carols: Sunday at Our Lady of Peace

TURNERS FALLS — Celebrating its 35th season, Schola Nova opens its 2017-2018 season with “Still, still, still,” a winter holiday program drawing on the tradition of lessons and carols begun in the 19th century at King’s College, Cambridge and now practiced by choirs all over the world. The program will take place on Sunday, Dec. 3, at 3 p.m., at Our Lady of Peace Church, 90 Seventh St. Music will include pieces by composers from the Renaissance to modern times. Free and open to the public. A goodwill offering will be gladly accepted.

Blue Christmas Service: Wednesday at 7

SHELBURNE FALLS — Join us for the second annual Blue Christmas Service at Trinity Church, 17 Severance St., on Wednesday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m., “Hope in Hard Times.” Ecumenical Communion Service at the start of Advent and the Christmas season. Free Christmas Carol Sing and Concert set for Dec. 9

GREENFIELD — You are cordially invited to a Christmas Carol Sing & Concert at the Greenfield High School auditorium on Saturday, Dec. 9 at 6 p.m. Last year, we had about 500 people attend who enjoyed a great time of singing carols as well as music from the 4D1G Gospel Quartet, Valley Revival Choir, and several other talented singers and musicians. Free admission.

Community Holiday Concert set for Dec. 9 in Montague Center

MONTAGUE CENTER — All are invited to a Community Holiday Concert on Saturday, Dec. 9 from 5 to 6:30 p.m., at Montague Congregational Church, 4 North St. Steve Ciechomski and Tom Kostek will perform. Service of Lessons and Carols: Dec. 10 at The First Church

DEERFIELD — A Community Service of Lessons and Carols is planned for Sunday, Dec. 10 at 4 p.m., at The First Church of Deerfield, 71 Old Main St. The service will include readings, choral and instrumental music and Christmas carols sung by all. Choirs from The Bement School, Deerfield Academy, Eaglebrook School, Stoneleigh-Burnham School and The First Church of Deerfield will participate.

Festival of Lessons and Carols: Dec. 17 at Holy Family Parish

SOUTH DEERFIELD — St. Cecilia’s Choir presents “A Festival of Lessons and Carols,” a prayer service of scripture and song that recalls the promise of the Messiah and the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Sunday, Dec. 17 at 7 p.m. at Holy Family Parish, 29 Sugarloaf St.
