GREENFIELD — Authorities say it is unknown whether a woman who climbed up a 30-foot high-tension tower at a music festival on Sunday afternoon was under the influence of any mind-altering substances.
With the help of a bucket truck from National Grid, firefighters rescued the woman after she had been stuck at the top of a high-tension tower for nearly an hour at the WormTown Music Festival at Camp Kee-Wanee, said Lt. William Gordon.
“It’s under investigation, but we believe that it may have been a psychological issue,” said Gordon. Once safely on the ground, the woman was transported by MedCare ambulance to Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield for further evaluation. The woman, who is not a Franklin County resident, suffered no physical injuries.
The Turners Falls Fire Department also aided in the rescue response, said Captain Kyle Cogswell.
The WormTown Music Festival is a weekend-long annual music festival in the wooded grounds of Camp Kee-Wanee on the Green River.
