TURNERS FALLS — The closure of the White Bridge that connects Greenfield and Turners Falls over the Connecticut River will continue on Thursday, Feb. 15, according to the state Department of Transportation (MassDOT).

The bridge was closed Monday through Thursday the week of Feb. 5, and the closure has continued this week between 6 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily. The schedule for this work is weather dependent and is subject to change without notice.

MassDOT spokesperson John Goggin previously explained that, due to necessary structural steel and concrete repairs, the White Bridge would have alternating one-way traffic through at least the end of March. Some work will require “intermittent full closures,” he added.

Alternate routes between Greenfield and Turners Falls include the Turners Falls-Gill Bridge connecting the village to Route 2 and the General Pierce Bridge on Montague City Road over the Connecticut River.
