March/April Classes: There’s still time to register for March/April classes. Classes for youth include swimming and gymnastics lessons, basketball skills classes for ages 4 to 5, 6 to 8 and 9 to 12, Active Games E class and Healthy Kids. Classes for adults include water fitness, water therapy, strength training, diabetic care, diabetic prevention program and the annual lifeguard training course. Childcare: The Y has a few openings in its before and after school childcare programs. The programs are for 6th graders from Greenfield, Turners and Gill schools. Before school care is from 6 to 8:30 a.m., after school care is from school dismissal until 6 or 7 p.m. The programs are open whenever schools are closed half days, full days, snow days and vacation weeks. Lifeguard Training Course: Once a year, the MCA provides a Red Cross lifeguard training course. This certificate provides excellent employment opportunities at pools and lakes. Must be at least 15 years old and a strong swimmer. The course is 36 hours and includes first aid and CR certificates. The class meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 to 9 p.m. starting today. The fee is $350 for members and $385 for non-members. Limited enrollment. Call 773-3646, ext. 427, for more information.

Conscious Breathing: Learn to control your breathing, engage your nervous system and change negative thought patterns. This is a form of yoga, a union of breath, body-mind and consciousness with no postures. Tuesdays, March 6, 13, 20 and 27 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. The cost is $40 per person. American Red Cross Blood: On Friday, March 16, the YMCA will host a community blood drive from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Call 1-800-733-2767 or visit: redcrosslood.org to schedule an appointment. Walk-ins welcome, but appointments are recommended.
