Winter Carnival: Save the date for the 2018 Winter Carnival, Feb. 2 to 4 and help celebrate “Six More Weeks of Fun!” Kicking off the weekend is live downtown ice carving, the Parade of Lights, followed by fireworks over Poet Seat Tower. The fun continues throughout the weekend with a Family Fun Fest, Sleigh Bell Run, cribbage tournament, Breakfast with Olaf, Cardboard Sled Race, K9 Keg Pull, Chili Cook-Off, vintage snow mobile display, and much much more! Winter Carnival Parade of Lights: Help the Greenfield Recreation Department light up the night and kick-off Winter Carnival right by entering your vehicle into the fourth annual Parade of Lights on Feb. 2. Decorated vehicles will travel from Newton School, along Main Street, down Federal Street, on to Beacon Street, and ending on Gerrett Street at Beacon Field. Prizes awarded for Best and Brightest, Artistic Illumination, and Town Council Award. More information available on the website. Registration is required.

Winter Carnival Sleigh Bell Run: Registration is open for the Winter Carnival Sleigh Bell Run Feb. 3 at 10 a.m., a 4-mile road race through a scenic course starting on Hope Street and running through the Highland Park area. Register at Recreation Department or Town Hall or day of race at Hope & Olive Restaurant from 8:45 to 9:30 a.m. Prizes awarded for multiple age divisions. First 75 entrants receive T-shirt and sleigh bell bracelets. $20 pre-race entry by Friday, and $25 after Friday and race day. Youth under the age of 18 half price.

February Vacation Week: Sign up today for a fun filled week of activities, games, and outdoor fun for your child grades Kindergarten through 7. This program takes place at the Youth Center, 20 Sanderson St., Feb. 20 through 23 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with early care available from 7:30 to 9 a.m., and late care from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Walking field trips to Beacon Field for sledding, skating, and snow fun. Lunch, afternoon snack, and drink must be sent with child. Morning snack provided. Children also must bring appropriate winter clothing (boots, hats, gloves, etc). Registration includes child’s participation in the Community Kids Bringing Art to the Heart of Greenfield program. Registration deadline is Feb. 6. Fees: $120 residents, $130 non-residents. Late care and early care $16 each per child.
