Writers’ Lunch: Monday through Thursday from noon to 2 p.m., the library’s LeVanway Room is open for Writers’ Lunch, a self-directed free writing time open to any writer who is looking for a place to work. Bring your own lunch and beverage and stop in for all or part of the Writers’ Lunch.

Open for Business: Telecommuters, local business people, and all others who are looking for reliable Wi-Fi and a quiet workspace are invited to use the library’s Greenfield Meeting Room on Monday and Friday from 2 to 5 p.m.

Warrior Writers: Local writer and veteran Eric Waseleski will lead a Warrior Writers writing workshop this evening from 6 to 8. Military veterans and their families are very welcome; this event is also open to the public. Warrior Writers works to create a culture that articulates the experiences of veterans, builds a collaborative community for artistic expression, and bears witness to war and the full range of military experiences. Mother Goose on the Loose: Join Kay Lyons on Tuesdays and Fridays from 10 to 11 a.m. at a lap-sit story hour for children age 3 and under, with a grownup, at the library. Kay reads books, leads the group in hand rhymes, and uses puppets to teach animal sounds and other concepts new to the very young. Each session is 45 minutes, with half an hour of structured activity and about fifteen minutes of visiting time.

Dr. Gretchen Gerzina Lecture: On Wednesday at 6 p.m., Dr. Gerzina, the author of “Mr. and Mrs. Prince” will talk about the research she did for her fascinating historical narrative of two slaves who met and married in Deerfield and earned their freedom. Co-sponsored by Not In Our Town and the Greenfield Public Library.

Young Writers Group: Author and teacher Nell Wright works with young writers ages 10-14 two Wednesdays a month. The group, limited to eight participants, will meet this Wednesday, Nov. 15 from 4 to 5 p.m. Preregistration is required. Call 413-772-1544 extension 5 for more information.

Chess Club: The Chess Club will not meet on Wednesday.

Writers’ Lunch Workshop: Join Joannah Whitney every Friday from noon to 2 p.m. to participate in writing exercises, discussion, and an opportunity to share what you’ve written. Experience the Book: Celebrating the work of Roald Dahl, the GPL presents the 21st “Experience the Book” event for families, featuring actors as Dahl’s wonderful characters in a short play, followed by themed treats and crafts. Meet Matilda, the BFG, Charlie and Willy Wonka, and more friends from the whimsical world of Dahl on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 4 p.m. Sign up at the kids’ desk.
