November/December Classes: Register today for all November/December classes. Youth classes include swimming and gymnastics for ages 1 to 12, parent/child swim or gym classes, Parkour, Ninja Challenge course, pre gymnastics team, basketball skills, kids’ self-defense, healthy kids P.E. and more. Adult classes include water fitness or therapy, strength training, Diabetes Care Program, Tai Chi Yang style, women’s only starter fitness, comfort zone for those 50 pounds or more overweight and more. Adult Coed Rec. Volleyball: On Wednesday nights from 7 to 9:20 p.m. the Y is offering an adult (ages 15-plus) coed recreation volleyball play. Two courts will be available; all skill levels are welcome. Free for Y facility members, $35 for eight nights for Program Associates and $10 per night for nonmembers.

Gymnastics Team, Ages 6-14: The Y has a few openings on its 2017-18 Gymnastics Team. The team is divided into twelve levels from pre-team on up. The team members practice two to three days per week for 1.5 to 2.5 hrs. Each level competes in about 10 to 12 meets per season. The season goes through May 15, 2018. Healthy Kids Class: Children need up to 60 minutes of active play five to seven days per week. The Healthy Kids Class, for boys and girls ages 6 to 12, meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Each class consists of 25 minutes of active gym games followed by a 30 minute workout in the Y’s Kid Fit Center. The Kid Fit Center has youth size “Nautilus type” strength machines and cardio equipment. The eight-week session fees are $50 for Y members and $60 for Program Associates.

Saturday Family Fun Nights: Every Saturday night from 6:15 to 8:15 p.m. the YMCA has a Family Fun Night for parents and children ages 1 to 12. There is a family swim from 6:15 to 8 p.m., the gymnastics center is open from 6:30 to 8:15 for parents/children ages 1 to 8 and the new Ninja Challenge Course for 8 to 12 year olds from 6:30 to 8:10 p.m. Nights are available for all families. Parents are required to play with their children and no cell phones allowed. Free for those with Y family memberships and an $18 day pass for non-member families. Call 773-3646, ext. 0 for details.

Prescribe the Y Program: Regular exercise is a medication that can help many people heal or deal with health issues with no side effects. The Prescribe the Y Program is a 12-week doctor referred wellness program that helps hundreds of Franklin County people get healthier each year. The fee for 12 weeks of care is $129; financial aid is available. For information call 773-3646, ext. 448 or ask your doctor for a referral for a free consultation.

Adult Dancing: Every Wednesday from 7:30 to 9 p.m. the YMCA offers adult dance lessons and open dancing. Instructors introduce a different dance every week: This week, Waltz, Nov. 15, Hustle, and Nov. 22, Latin Night. No partner or experience needed. Nights are free for Y members and $5 per person per night for others.

Three New Advanced Water Fitness Classes: Water fitness classes provide excellent cardio conditioning with ‘no impact’ on joints and muscles. The Y has two new classes on Sundays: Deep Water Running from 10:45 to 11:30 a.m. and Cardio Abs from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Participants can register for one of the classes or both and get a discount. Another new class is Broadway Blast, a 45-minute dance choreographed class using Broadway show tunes.
