Full Day Preschool Openings: The Y has a few openings for the 2017-18 school year. There are two classrooms, one for 3 to 4 year olds and another for 4 and 5 year olds. The school also takes advantage of the Y’s facilities with weekly swim and gymnastics lessons and daily P.E. in the gym. The school is open 50 weeks per year, including snow days, and provides early care (6:30 to 8:30 a.m.) and late care (3:30 to 5:30 p.m.). There are two, three and five day per week options. Parents who enroll their children for the five-day extended year option get a free YMCA family membership. Voucher funding is accepted. To schedule a visit, call Lisa at 773-3646, ext. 431.

September/October Program Registration: Register now for the September/October session of all adult and youth classes. Classes/programs include youth swimming and gymnastics, soccer leagues, after-school childcare, parent/child swim or gym or P.E. classes, full day preschool and more. Classes for adults include water fitness/therapy classes, diabetes care program, Tai Chi Yang style, brain based yoga therapy for chronic pain, women’s only First Step Fitness, gentle yoga for cancer survivors and much more. Healthy Family: Healthy Family is a 12-week starter fitness program in a private room for families who are struggling with weight. Families will learn the benefits of exercise along with good nutrition to create lifelong healthy habits. The program meets Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. The program is free for those families with a Y family membership. Families can start their 12-week cycle anytime when space is available. Call Dawn at 773-3646, ext. 428, for more information.

Comfort Zone: Comfort Zone is a 12-week starter fitness program in a private room for people at least 50 pounds overweight. An exercise trainer will be available to instruct and motivate each participant to finish the program. Participants can start their 12-week cycle anytime when space is available. After the 12 weeks, the participants will meet with a trainer to discuss their next steps to wellness. Call Dawn at 773-3646, ext. 428, for more information. The program is free for Y facility members.

First Step Fitness Program. Join the twelve-week First Step Fitness Program with a new, dedicated time slot for women only. Feel comfortable in a private room and receive assistance and encouragement from our YMCA staff, all while gaining confidence and making new friends. Participants will learn the benefits of exercise, along with good nutrition to create a lifelong healthy habit. Participants can begin their twelve weeks at any time where space is available. Jr. and Teen Leaders Clubs: The Y has two Leaders Clubs, one for 10 to 12 year olds and one for 13 to 18 year olds. The club members learn how to teach a variety of skills, work with younger children and organize Y events. Volunteer hours are required each month. The clubs meet the first and third Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. The volunteer hours are scheduled each month. There is a parent information night on Wednesday, Sept. 13, at 6 p.m.

Youth Soccer Leagues: The Y is running three soccer leagues for boys and girls ages 4 to 12 for eight weeks. The leagues meet at the GCC soccer fields as follows: Wednesday, at 5:15 for 4 to 5 year olds; and Tuesday and Thursday, at 5:15, for 6 to 9 and 10 to 12 year olds. Volunteer coaches are needed, YMCA values apply. Fees are: Y members ages 4 to 5, $45; ages 6 to 12 are $60. Program Associates ages 4 to 5 are $55 and ages 6 to 12 are $70.
