Youth Track & Field: The YMCA will hold track and field events on Monday nights this summer at Mohawk High School for boys and girls ages 4 to 16. The dates are July 24, 31 and August 7 and 14. Registration is at 5:15 p.m. with events starting at 5:30. The fee is $5 per child per night.

Prescribe the Y Program: Prescribe the Y is a 12-week starter fitness/wellness program that requires a referral from a medical professional. There are four tracks for patients to choose from; weight loss, chronic disease/pain management, strengthening and conditioning and rehab and recovery. The program is for adults of any age or ability. People should ask their provider for a referral and then contact the Y to get started. Financial aid is available to cover up to 70 percent of the fee.

Summer Swim Lessons: The Y is offering swim lessons for children ages 1 to 10 this summer. There are two more two-week sessions with classes held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; sessions are July 24 to August 4 and August 7 to 18 for 3 to 5 year olds (without parent in the water) from 3:45 to 4:15 p.m.; and 6 to 10 year olds (polliwog/guppy I) from 4:15 to 4:45 p.m. July 18 to Aug. 3 there will be a three-week session on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:45 to 10:15 a.m. for parent/child swim orientation classes — these are for 1 to 5 year olds. The class fees are Y members, $25, and program associates, $35.

Summer Gymnastics Classes: On Saturdays until Aug. 19 there will be two gymnastics classes offered at the Y — 10 to 10:45 a.m. for ages 3 to 5; and 10 to 11 a.m. for ages 5 to 12. The class fees are $40 for Y members and $57 for program associates. Registration for fall classes begins in early August.

Sports Camps: The Y offers weekly sessions of sports camps with a variety of themes for boys and girls ages 6 to 14. The camps staff create “like ability groups” so all levels will feel comfortable. There is a daily swim and game room play as well as a free lunch. Our air conditioned gym provides cool, comfortable play. The camp weeks run until August 18.

Camp Apex: Boys and girls ages 6 to 12 will enjoy Camp Apex. The Apex themes are Icky Sticky Goo, Out of the Box and Space is the Place. August 21 to 25 is the last week of camp before school starts.

Childcare Open House: On Aug. 8, from 6 to 8 p.m., the Y’s before and after school childcare staff and the Y’s preschool teachers will be holding an open house. The childcare program serves children in grades kindergarten through 6 in Greenfield and Turners Falls. The preschool is for children ages 2 through 5. Call Kara at 773-3646, ext. 452, and Lisa at 773-3646, ext. 431, for more information. A limited number of spots are available for each program. Voucher funding is accepted.

The camp offers half-day, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. or 1 to 4 p.m., and full-day, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. care. Parents can add early-care, 6:15 to 9 a.m., and/or late care, 4 to 6 p.m. Visit: ymcaingreenfield.org or call 773-3646, ext. 0, for more information.
