DEERFIELD — Ahead of Earth Day’s town cleanup, a group of eight folks set out on Upper Road to help Greenfield Community College student Tom Alber complete his final project for the Outdoor Leadership Program.

In all, the group collected 26 bags of trash, a television, an old burn barrel, 12 tires and a grill over the course of six hours on the road.

Alber was joined by Sarah Colby, Rob Alber, Craig Berry, Lisa Alber, Matvey Cronyn, Alli Lyncosk, Shea Jackson and Mason Biagni. He said he hopes to host another cleanup this summer and in the fall.

“Cleaning up the outdoors and environment really put in perspective that we need to take initiative to keep our Earth clean and healthy,” Tom Alber said.
