Some Franklin County districts cancel school Friday

Due to today’s wintry mix forecast, several Franklin County districts canceled school.

As of around 8:15 p.m., schools throughout the region including Frontier Regional School, Franklin County Technical School and Pioneer Valley Regional School and Greenfield Community College had announced snow days.

 Other schools  and districts were expected to do the same today and some already have. Among them: Erving Elementary, Gill-Montague Regional, Mahar Regional, Orange elementary and Union 38.

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory with mixed precipitation expected. The ice will result in difficult travel conditions. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches and ice accumulations are expected.

Precipitation is expected between 7 a.m. today through noon on Saturday. The advisory warned drivers to be prepared for reduced visibility.
