The youth movement has made its presence felt in the PVIAC Alpine Ski League so far this winter.

For the fourth consecutive meet, Mohawk Trail Regional High School freshman Ashley LaCross and Frontier Regional School sophomore Corriann Delaney found themselves in the top five of the overall standings as the league held its fourth event of the season at Berkshire East Ski Resort in Charlemont on Thursday.

LaCross won her second race of the winter, topping the field in the slalom with a blistering time of 34.53 seconds — two full seconds ahead of the field. The Mohawk freshman also won the season’s opening race, plus has a second- and third-place overall finish to her credit.

Delaney posted her best finish of the season Thursday. Her time of 36.75 seconds was good enough for a runner-up showing, putting her behind only LaCross in the entire field. Delaney has been third, fourth and fifth so far on the league slate.

With LaCross setting the pace, the Warriors were able to capture their fourth team win in the North Division in as many races. Teammate Taylor Loomis provided a stellar No. 2 scoring time, as she was fourth overall in 36.89 seconds.

The other two Mohawk scorers finished in the top 13 in the North, as Lizzie Herzig was 10th (14th overall) in 44.56 seconds and Erin Laffond was 13th (20th overall) in 48.27 seconds.

Amalie Rowehl was 15th in the North (23rd overall) in 49.06 seconds for Mohawk, while teammate Areia Heilman took 21st in the North (32nd overall) in 56.04.

Frontier received a strong performance from senior Anna Zera, as she crossed in 12th place in the North (16th overall) with a time of 45.69 seconds to occupy the No. 2 scoring spot for the Red Hawks.

Frontier also received points toward the team total from Cali Price (30th North, 1:01.39) and Paige Moriarty (39th, 1:03.49).

St. Mary’s Parish School star Matt Masciadrelli skied to another overall victory on the boys’ side of things, completing the giant slalom course in just 23.04 seconds.

Mohawk’s top two scorers, Bennett Boucias and Dan White, raced into the top 10 of the North standings with fine performances Thursday. Boucias was seventh in the North and 10th overall, crossing with a time of 24.62 seconds. White was next down the mountain, as he took eighth in the North and 11th overall in 24.78 seconds.

East Longmeadow High School’s Nick Morin won the North race in 23.30 seconds, second overall behind Masciadrelli.

The Warriors received a strong No. 3 scoring performance from James Harrison. He took 17th in the North and 21st overall, posting a final time of 26.24 seconds.

Rounding out the top four for Mohawk was Ryan Burke, who was 27th in the North (39th overall) in 27.89 seconds.

Frontier’s top two skiers stacked up well in the South Division on Thursday. Freshman Ben Martino again paced his school, finishing 13th (46th overall) with a time of 28.53 seconds. Teammate Aaron Halbech was right behind, crossing in 28.61 seconds to put him 14th (47th overall).

The regular season continues on Thursday with another race back at Berkshire East.
