Police Logs, Dec. 4 to 13, 2017

Greenfield, Dec. 4

9:34 a.m. — Two Greenfield residents, Michael J. Williams, 53, and Sherri L. Williams, 47, were arrested on warrants on Leyden Road. 

10:50 p.m. — Shawn M. Benz, 45, of Chapman Street, was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of liquor with a blood alcohol content of 0.08 or greater and an expired inspection sticker. Benz was stopped near Goodies Restaurant on Federal Street.

Greenfield, Dec. 5

5:33 p.m. — An 11-year-old boy was waiting by Bank of America for his father to pick him up from Greenfield Middle School. While waiting, a new-looking black vehicle pulled up to him, rolled down the window and asked him if he needed a ride, pointing to his passenger seat. 

7:58 p.m. — Mackenzie Cox, 34, of Deerfield Street in Greenfield was issued a summons and charged with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, unregistered motor vehicle and a motor vehicle lights violation. Cox was stopped near El Greco on Main Street. 

Greenfield, Dec. 6

1:56 p.m. — A bicycle parked at Foster’s Supermarket was reported as stolen. Michael Simmons, 27, of Springfield was arrested on a charge of larceny of more than $250; bicycle was photographed and returned to owner.

9:50 p.m. — Conway Street resident reported a man drove onto lawn and threatened her husband.

10:06 — Following a hit-and-run incident, Jovon Van Guilder, 33, homeless of Greenfield, was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of liquor, negligent operation, assault and battery on a police officer, leaving a property damage accident scene, and resisting arrest. 

Greenfield, Dec. 7

10:23 a.m. — Employee at Andy’s Oak Shoppe reports $300 missing from drawer overnight; no sign of breaking and entering. Shop owners to determine if missing money is an error or theft.

7:37 p.m. — A caller reported 12 adults fighting on Heather Court. MedCare responded for an ankle injury, and another MedCare ambulance was requested. Charges will be filed.

Greenfield, Dec. 8

Midnight — Carl R. Engstrom, 23, of Buckland, was issued a summons on charges of a subsequent offense of operating a motor vehicle after a license was revoked and a miscellaneous motor vehicle equipment violation.

7:46 a.m. — A 12-gauge shotgun shell was found at the Sunoco gas station located at 416 Federal St.

12:09 p.m. — A caller at Stop & Shop reported her mirror was broken off by another vehicle while she was in the store.

Montague, Dec. 8

4:55 p.m. — A Fifth Street resident called to report that a cat in his apartment “attacked his son.” The cat belongs to the resident’s old friend that lived with him, but who he now has a harassment prevention order against. 

Greenfield, Dec. 9

5:27 a.m. — A child was found sleeping in a running vehicle in the parking lot of Stop & Shop. The previous night, a caller reported, a 7- or 8-year-old girl was with the cleaning crew vendors and the child slept on a bench in the store. The vendors were told that the child should not be there. The caller reported the girl’s parents have been in the store cleaning since around 3:30 a.m. 

12:06 p.m. — An accident without injuries occurred at Rite Aid, on Main Street between a gray 2004 Ford Focus and a red 2013 Nissan Rogue. The vehicles sustained minor damage.

Greenfield, Dec. 11

12:10 a.m. — A white male, about 6-feet-tall reportedly tried to break into  Forest Avenue apartment. He fled the scene after being stopped, but leaving significant damage behind. 

8:12 a.m. — Following an argument over a child not wanting to wear a coat to school, police assisted staff at the Victory House on Conway Street.

10:30 a.m. — A male at Baystate Franklin Medical Center was taken into custody on a warrant of apprehension and brought to court, following reports that the male was going to “battle with police.” 

3 p.m. — A two-car accident in the parking lot of Dollar General, on Colrain Road, sent one individual to the hospital for neck pain. 

Greenfield, Dec. 12

12:34 a.m. — Noah R. Foster-Marquis, 20, of Lincoln Street issued a summons on charges of a motor vehicle lights violation and operation of a motor vehicle after revoked registration.

10:02 a.m. — A person at Baystate Franklin Medical Center was served a warrant of apprehension and brought to the Franklin County Justice Center on Hope Street. 

4:43 p.m. — A person at Valley Medical Group, on Conway Street, was reportedly combative with staff, attempting to attack them with needles. The person was also reported to be intoxicated. They left on foot from the medical practice, but were located by the police and then brought to Baystate Franklin Medical Center on Section 12. 

Greenfield, Dec. 13

12:21 a.m. — A woman reportedly gave herself a self-inflicted laceration on her left arm, which led to the response of police after a neighbor found out. When police arrived, they brought her to Baystate Franklin Medical Center, but when at the hospital she attempted to flee and then “assisted” officers and staffs. She was restrained until given medicine.
