Police arrest two in Greenfield for drug, gun offenses

GREENFIELD — Two men were arrested on drug and firearm charges after the Northwestern District Anti-Crime Task Force, the Greenfield Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police STOP Team executed a search warrant at 83 Hope St. on Friday morning.

Bucky Maynard, a 44-year-old with a last-known address of Turners Falls, and Taylor Cotter, a 31-year-old with a last-known address of Greenfield, were taken into custody and transported to the Greenfield Police Station after authorities found approximately 91 grams of suspected cocaine, 1,149 bags of suspected heroin/fentanyl, $1,649 in cash and two unlawfully possessed handguns, authorities say.

Both men have pleaded not guilty in Greenfield District Court to single counts of trafficking in fentanyl (less than 10 grams), trafficking in cocaine (36 to 100 grams), conspiracy to violate drug law, possession of a firearm without a license to carry or FID card, possession of ammunition without a license to carry or FID card, possession of a firearm in commission of a felony and improper storage of a firearm. Additionally, Maynard is charged with possession of a firearm with three or more serious drug offenses/violent crimes, while Cotter is being charged with possession of a firearm with two or more serious drug offenses/violent crimes.

Judge William F. Mazanec III ordered Maynard held on $20,000 cash bail. Cotter is being held on $15,000 bail. Both men are due to appear in court again on Feb. 23.
