Montague Police Logs: April 1 to April 8, 2024

Monday, April 1

12:31 p.m. — Caller on Central Street would like it on record that someone came onto her porch and stole one of her recycling bins. Services rendered.

5:09 p.m. — Caller on Fifth Street states there is a dog that appears to be injured and unable to walk. Reporting party states the dog has a tag with the name “Sarah” on it. Officer advises the dog was reunited with its owner.

6:44 p.m. — Reporting party from Bridge Street states there is a lot of smoke in the area and it smells like burning plastic. A cooking fire permit had been issued for that location.

Tuesday, April 2

3:00 p.m. — Report of a suspicious person walking their dog by the portable toilets near Hillcrest Elementary School on Griswold Street. Male party is lost and waiting for someone to pick him up.

3:07 p.m. — Reporting party states a car in the parking lot on Fourth Street has people actively using drugs within it. Individuals are reportedly throwing the used needles out the car windows into the driveway. Reporting party later called back stating the car had left headed toward Food City. Officer checked the parking lot, found no signs of trash on the ground. Officer stopped the vehicle in the parking lot of Greenfield Savings Bank and advised the parties that if any trash is found, they will be charged.

Wednesday, April 3

7:56 p.m. — Reporting party states there are two cars parked on the wrong side of the road by Park and Seventh streets. Drivers went into the yellow house. With the cars parked there it is very hard to get out of her driveway. Officers advised.

Friday, April 5

8:11 p.m. — Reporting party states that every day around dusk a male party, accompanied by two small children, walks in Unity Park. They have flashlights and they are there for approximately an hour before they leave. Referred to an officer.

Saturday, April 6

10:45 a.m. — Reporting party from Keith Apartments on Canal Street states someone tried to kick in his neighbor’s door and possibly his door as well. Reporting party is unsure when the damage occurred, but it could have been up to a week ago.

6:39 p.m. — Reporting party from J Street reports someone broke into the box for payments and two personal checks were stolen. Referred to an officer.

Monday, April 8

12:02 a.m. — Caller from K Street advises he noticed on his camera system a male party with a flashlight walking near his house. Reporting party states the individual walked past his house and then returned from the other direction. This occurred at 10:07 p.m. Male has not been seen since, but the caller thinks it’s odd and would like it logged.
