Doreen and Raymond Willis of Main Street, Charlemont, celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.

The former Doreen Rose Lillian Cove and Raymond “Coach” Charles Willis were married Feb. 7, 1953.

Mrs. Willis graduated from Queen Elizabeth College in 1950 in London, England.

Willis obtained a master’s degree in counseling and a bachelor’s degree in physical education/health.

Mrs. Willis was a secretary to the sales manager of Kymet Company in London, England. She worked for her husband’s oil company as the bookkeeper, became a social worker and worked in the front end culinary department as an instructor at Franklin County Technical School.

Willis served in the U.S. Air Force as an instrument mechanic for aircraft, was a worker at the New England power company in 1954, owned his own oil business in 1961 and was physical education instructor and director of athletics for Franklin County Technical School for 17 years. He was also the director of Special Olympics for the Northwest area for seven years.

The couple’s children are: Gillian Chaff of Tucson, Ariz., Susan Willis of Hatfield, Trudy Willis of Greenfield, and Ward Willis of Greenfield. Grandchildren: Nicole and Jon Legere, Chelsea and Andrew Betsold, Tom and Mallory Willis and Allison Weeden. Great-grandchildren: Brandi, Laney and Mitchell Johnson, Amelia Weeden, and Josyah, Alley-J Nicole, Shandi and Ray-Lynn Jonne Legere.

We celebrate the marriage of this loving couple who have dedicated themselves to raising their children and grandchildren, and teaching their students while actively participating in community events. Many memories will be held dear to our hearts. Thank you Mom, Dad, Nana and Coach. We love you.
