ATHOL — No need to shop online to get great deals on holiday gifts, as the North Quabbin Chamber & Visitors Bureau has planned the 10th annual Midnight Madness, an Athol and Orange local shopping extravaganza.

This year’s event will take place Saturday from 6 p.m. to midnight, though some businesses start the savings earlier in the day. At least 39 businesses are participating, but check northquabbinchamber.com or the Chamber’s Facebook page for last-minute additions. Discounts include items 50 percent off and more.

Midnight Madness includes entertainers and performances from the North Quabbin region, including Myra MacLeod & Friends at the House of Wax, 21st Century Bell Choir at the Athol Area YMCA, and the Benjamin Carolers and Inside Out Dance Company starting at the Y and appearing throughout the shopping route all evening.

Santa Claus will arrive at 5:45 p.m. by fire truck at the YMCA and there will be transportation shuttles along the route, from downtown Athol to the Orange Innovation Center in Orange, with stops at all the participating businesses along the way.
